Service Description
A 12-week (80 Minutes) camp geared for our 7 to 12.5 year old RETURNING campers who are ready for Novel Analysis/Essay Writing! WHO: Appropriate for Children (7 to 12.5 year olds) who are in school / homeschooled. - 1 to 3 Adults to 12 T.OTs per group. - Each group is run by a licensed/registered pediatric occupational therapist. WHAT: Students will read Number the Stars or The Giver. We will dive into literary analysis and will then learn how to write an essay. A hybrid of using the Handwriting Without Tears book and curriculum created by Ms. Jennell (@ot.umma) to target identified areas such as: - Inefficient or Atypical Letter Formation - Sentence Pragmatics (e.g. spacing in between letters, spacing between words in a sentence, letter placement on wide-ruled, college-ruled paper, or adapted paper) - Reading Comprehension (e.g. highlighting text and using information to write) - Critical Writing + Introductory Paragraph with a thesis + Supporting Paragraph citing quotes from the text + Concluding Paragraph restating the thesis - Peer-Editing Abilities WHEN: Wednesday (1/22/25 - 4/16/25) || 4:30 to 5:50 PM **NO SESSIONS: President's Day Week (2/17/25 - 2/23/25). WHERE: Corner of Tustin Ranch Rd. and Walnut Ave. WHY: To set each child up for success by re-establishing strong foundations as they blast off into their academic journey! This course is an intensive camp utilizing occupational therapy-based interventions to: - Identify problem areas in writing - Strategically target identified problem areas in a methodical fashion to improve overall legibility - Offer recommendations on accommodations (e.g. adapted pencils, papers, slant boards, work spaces) as needed Every activity is taught with a focus on a multi-sensory approach to learning! Rate: $60 per 80 minutes - Cost Breakdown: After the $150 initial deposit, $47.50 per 80 minute class. IMPORTANT: - Mandatory $30 materials fee. - Mandatory 30 minute screener ($60) after registration to determine if camps are an appropriate fit. - Ms. Jennell is an occupational therapist, but is not operating as any camper's private OT. - During emergent circumstances (e.g. natural disasters, illness/quarantine), classes may be held online. Cancellation Policy
Booking & Cancellation Policy T.OT Camps: + Camp bookings may be cancelled up to 30 days prior to the camp start date. + Cancellations made within 30 days of the start date will result in forfeiture of the camp deposit, which may be applied to a future camp or session at Ms. Jennell’s discretion and depending on the reason for cancellation. Individual Sessions: + Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice. + Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in the forfeiture of the payment for that session. Important Information: + Ms. Jennell Chang, MA, OTR/L is a licensed/registered occupational therapist using OT-informed strategies to support all learners. She is not operating as anyone’s private or treating occupational therapist through T.OT programs. + In the event of emergencies (e.g., natural disasters, illness, or quarantine), sessions and camps may transition to distance learning (online classes).
